Ohio College Scholarships
Going to school in Ohio can lead to qualification for a number of grants and loans within the state for attendance at an approved school. However, after federal government funding and grants are applied, you will still have a large lump sum on your shoulders that must be addressed. Ohio scholarships help to relieve the hefty burden that college places on students financially by providing additional monetary sums that can be applied to your school tuition charges.
Ohio Academic Scholarships are offered to the most talented and gifted students in Ohio in sums of up to $2000. Students who earn top ACT or SAT scores and have a high GPA and are enrolled in an Ohio state college or university may be eligible. The Ohio Regents Graduate/Professional Fellowship Program is available to help Ohio state residents attending a state college or university in beginning a graduate program with up to $3500 per academic year. Students must be enrolled at least half time to qualify and must be able to prove residency in the state of Ohio.
For children of veterans or safety officers (including firefighters, paramedics, and corrections officers) who have been killed, wounded, or disabled in the line of duty, there are specialized Ohio scholarships available, including the Ohio War Orphans Scholarship (students at a state college or university receive a full scholarship, while private school attendees get a partial scholarship) and the Ohio Safety Office College Memorial Fund (Ohio residents qualify under the same terms).

Paying for school is not easy, but we are here to help. OEDb's student finance section will help you find the money you need to pay your tuition and other college expenses. We cover scholarships, college grants, and student loans. Scholarships and grants are both forms of "free money", meaning they don't need to be paid back. Scholarships are typically awarded by businesses or individuals, with the money being earmarked specifically for tuition. They can be awarded based on a student's location or by religious affiliation, such as Catholicism or Islam. Grants are typically awarded by governments or non-profit organizations and the money often can be applied to several different expenses a student may incur, not solely tuition. They can be awarded based on location or ethnicity, for instance African American or Hispanic. Loans are not considered "free money", because unlike scholarships and grants, they do need to be paid back after graduation. Common federal loans include Perkins and Stafford. Loans are also available by location.
