Online Colleges in Nebraska

Nebraska has supported online education across the entire breadth of grade levels, from inclusive educational projects geared towards students in grades K-12 all the way up through postsecondary education. Created by the Nebraska Department of Education, the Network, Education and Technology Services team (NEaT) has been providing elementary, middle and high schools with the latest technology tools to help students learn since 2007. The NEaT Team also trains teachers in the use of technology in the classroom. Four universities in the state of Nebraska joined together to create the Online Worldwide program in 2010, which offers over 100 online degrees, certificates, minors and programs.

Similar to many other states across the U.S., Nebraska has experienced high enrollment rates recently, with public four-year institutions seeing a 10.2% increase within a time period of five years. Students, however, appear to be the ones shouldering the burden of increased education expenses, as tuition for those attending four-year public institutions has increased by 32.6%, while total state appropriations only increased by 7.7%. Despite the rising cost of higher education, first-year retention rates for the state remain at a high 78.2%, with a graduation rate of 56.8%.
