If you are a resident of North Dakota, you probably realize that, because much of the area is rural and colleges are centrally located in the few more urban areas, it can be difficult to afford to even attend a school in state, with room and board adding to the expense of tuition. Fortunately, if you know where to look, you'll find an incredible number of North Dakota scholarships available for students who want to stay in state to earn their degrees.
The North Dakota scholarship program is a source of funds for the 20 most talented students in the state, based on top ACT scores and a GPA of at least 3.5. Students must choose to attend a state college, university, or tribal college to receive a full scholarship (partial scholarships are available for attendance at a private college). The scholarship is renewable for eligible students for up to 3 years.
To assist underprivileged Native Americans in attending college and receiving a higher education, the Indian Scholarship Program offers funding based on merit and need that can be paid out in sums of up to $2000 per academic year for students with a GPA of at least 2.0. Students must provide proof of tribal membership.
Because it is popular in the state to attend a technical or vocational school as opposed to a traditional college, North Dakota scholarships also cover such pursuits. The Technology Occupations Student Loan Program is for those who graduate from a technology program and have been employed in a technology job for at least a year after graduation. Awards are offered in sums of $1000.

Paying for school is not easy, but we are here to help. OEDb's student finance section will help you find the money you need to pay your tuition and other college expenses. We cover scholarships, college grants, and student loans. Scholarships and grants are both forms of "free money", meaning they don't need to be paid back. Scholarships are typically awarded by businesses or individuals, with the money being earmarked specifically for tuition. They can be awarded based on a student's location or by religious affiliation, such as Catholicism or Islam. Grants are typically awarded by governments or non-profit organizations and the money often can be applied to several different expenses a student may incur, not solely tuition. They can be awarded based on location or ethnicity, for instance African American or Hispanic. Loans are not considered "free money", because unlike scholarships and grants, they do need to be paid back after graduation. Common federal loans include Perkins and Stafford. Loans are also available by location.
