Westwood College was founded in 1953 in Denver, Colorado. Since then, it has grown to encompass 14 branch campuses in Colorado, California, Illinois, Georgia, and Virginia.
Westwood is committed to the success of its students and is so confident in its programs’ effectiveness that it offers graduates an employment pledge. If a graduate has not found degree-related work within six months of completing their degree, the college will both work with them in their job search and offer them $500 per month (for bachelor’s degree holders) or $250 per month (for associate degree holders) for up to six months in order to help pay their bills. Westwood College offers more than 35 degree programs through its six schools: technology, healthcare, business, design, justice, and industrial services. Each school is representative of a range of in-demand careers, providing students with the skills and knowledge necessary to obtain that dream job. Westwood campuses are also located in large cities and metropolitan areas, meaning students will complete their coursework close to excellent employers.
Students in the school of business may earn bachelor’s degrees in construction management or one of the six business administration concentration options. The school of design offers programs in computer aided design/architectural drafting, graphic design, and interior design. The school of justice provides criminal justice and paralegal programs, and the school of industrial services offers associate degrees in automotive technology and surveying.
While some of these degrees are only offered at a physical campus, 25 of them are available to distance learners through Westwood’s online college. Programs offered online include a bachelor’s degree in graphic design with a viscom focus, and three information technology bachelor’s: computer forensics, network management, and systems security. Westwood’s online classes are set up to be partially asynchronous; that is, students are not required to log in at certain times. However, they are expected to login several times per week to access course and reference materials as well as to have discussions with their classmates to meet course requirements for interactive participation. As long as students meet certain assignment deadlines, they are free to direct their own progress.
When it comes to prioritizing the future of education and the future of students on the road to meaningful occupations, Westwood College is without a doubt a leader in education.
