Western Governors University provides online education for busy professionals. The programs are designed differently from traditional courses in that the credit hours are less important in completing the program of study than the competency levels that students demonstrate through projects, examinations and interactive discussions with peers and faculty. WGU is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities.
Western Governors University was founded by the governors of 19 Western states to provide quality education to those wanting to advance their professional skills, knowledge and ability. The courses are practical and they encourage a mastery of theoretical concepts relevant to the topic. Instructors at Western Governors University are experienced in their field and have extensive knowledge in developing and teaching online programs to professionals. Each student is assigned a personal faculty member to act as a mentor throughout his or her course of study.
Students can communicate with faculty and classmates through online message boards, supervised chat rooms and email. One of the many benefits of studying online at Western Governors University is that course completion and access is completely flexible based on the needs of the learner. Students can work from home, office or the road. Some students may be eligible for financial aid in the form of federal Pell grants or direct student loans.
