West Virginia University is based in Morgantown with sub-campuses in Parkersburg, Montgomery and Keyser. This state college was established in 1867 and has grown tremendously in both size and reputation. The school has produced dozens of Rhodes Scholars, Goldwater Scholars and Truman Scholars. In addition to offering many on-campus degree programs, WVU also offers online ones.
Online programs offered by WVU award undergraduate and graduate degrees. Surprisingly, this modern method of learning isn't new to the university. Off-campus courses have been offered through WVU for more than 30 years. Online discussion with professors and classmates helps to compensate for a lack of face-to-face interaction. This is a beneficial way to earn a degree for students with busy schedules or out-of-state residence.
Those in need of financial aid will find WVU to be quite accommodating. Even without financial aid, the college is one of the most affordable in the country. Students should contact the school for tuition information, as distance learners and out-of-state residents pay different rates from on-campus students.
All of the online programs offered by WVU are accredited by the Higher Learning Commission North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, with certain programs holding even more specific accreditation. Instructors who teach online courses are experienced in nontraditional education and Internet communication.
