Virginia College is a for-profit, private institution with over twenty campuses spread mostly throughout the Southeastern United States; it offers a large range of degrees and certificates in business management, cosmetology, criminal justice, culinary arts, golf course management, healthcare, information technology, office management, paralegal studies, and therapeutic massage. Virginia College’s online degree programs are primarily limited to master’s degrees. That said, students will find that some of VC’s most popular bachelor’s degrees are offered through Virginia College Online, including human services management and network management.
At VC, most instructors work in the fields they teach, so introducing students to the real-world applications of their coursework is a major priority for them. Classes are kept small and schedules are kept flexible. VC’s student-oriented approach to education also accounts for the wide array of services available to students on a day-to-day basis, including career, technological, financial, and academic counseling.
Virginia College particularly prides itself in its Career Services department. This office is dedicated to supplying students with expert and personalized advice on career searches, resumes and interviews. This is particularly important because Virginia College is nationally rather than regionally accredited. This means that some Virginia graduates find that they need additional certification in order to apply their degree in a certain state. If you’re considering enrolling at VC, be sure to discuss the possibilities of further accreditation with both your program faculty and the career center first.
In addition its full-service career center, Virginia College offers students the option to participate in its Strategic Partnership program. This program connects VC students and graduates with recruitment specialists from some of the country’s largest employers, including Aegis Therapies, Allied Barton Security Services, Target, CVS Pharmacy, Ambient Healthcare, Elements Therapeutic Massage, LabCorp, Walgreens, Healthsouth, and SportClips. While the possibilities for Virginia College students are not limited to the companies from its pool of partners, having relationships with such successful business does create comfort for students who are eager to get back into the workplace. Work experience and professional connections are valuable wherever you take them. That’s why many students find that when it comes to career placement opportunities, the Strategic Partnership program compensates for VC’s lack of regional accreditation status.
