The U.S. Career Institute is a self-paced vocational school offering correspondence courses via traditional mail and web-based formats. The school’s mission is to provide accessible learning materials that allow students to develop career-specific skills. Certificates are available in seven fields, including healthcare, business, wellness, and legal studies. Students also have the opportunity to enroll in one of the institute’s 10 associate degree programs, which include health information technology, entrepreneurship, marketing, and social work.
The U.S. Career Institute’s online and correspondence degrees are accredited by the Distance Education Training Council. The institute has also partnered with 14 other organizations to build relationships with industry partners, such as the National Center for Competency Testing, the National Board of Fitness Examiners, and the National Health Career Association.
Course assignments, textbooks, and supplemental materials are all shipped to students or sent via email. Since all courses are self-paced, students may submit assignments and take tests at their own convenience using the online student portal; phone and snail mail alternatives are also available. Instructors provide individualized assistance to each student. Prospective students are also able to sample the distance learning program by participating in a seven-day trial; if the course is unsatisfactory, then enrollment is cancelled and the student receives a full refund.
A variety of payment options are available to students, including zero-percent financing, military aid, and employee reimbursement participation. Current military personnel and veterans can complete an online degree program by taking advantage of special funding options, including the G.I. Bill, Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support (DANTES), and Military Spouse Career Advancement Accounts (MyCAA). Students who work are encouraged to explore any employee reimbursement programs available through their employer.
The U.S. Career Institute’s online courses advocate real-world work coaching and learning. The school’s Success Promise Program provides students with job search assistance and training to define upcoming work goals. Additionally, graduates receive tuition refunds if they do not find a job within six months of graduating. In order to qualify for a refund, students must complete their program within 12 months, pay at least 50% of their tuition and keep up with payment plans. Students must also complete weekly ‘Success Promise activities,’ such as mapping out a career plan, building a stronger resume, and contacting potential employers.
From job coaching to industry-specific curricula, students who attend this innovative school will gain significant career insight in addition to their desired certificate or degree. Since the curriculum bypasses traditional liberal arts requirements and strictly focuses on career-oriented training, self-motivated students can complete their program and quickly enter the workforce — or, alternatively, students with conflicting commitments such as full-time employment or childcare can earn a degree at their own pace. Allowing the option to create a customized schedule is just one of the reasons why U.S. Career Institute is such an appealing choice for today’s students.
