Herzing University was established in 1965 for the purpose of preparing students for careers in the computer technology field. Through Herzing University Online, students can choose among 21 online bachelor’s and 11 online master’s degrees. Herzing’s Online is a recognized online program; it is ranked on U.S. News and World Report’s Top Online Bachelor’s Programs and Top Online Business Programs lists.
Online courses at Herzing are asynchronous. Students can choose when and where they complete their reading assignments, homework, and exams, as well as when they view online lectures. There are never scheduled meeting times in which students must log in with their fellow classmates to listen to lectures, as is the case with synchronous courses. Herzing Online students have the full freedom to complete their degree when it works best for them.
Herzing University maintains that through their online program, students will generally take two courses simultaneously and spend about 9 hours a week working on each course. Students receive their assignments at the beginning of each week, if not earlier. Courses require students to complete textbook reading assignments, exams, and written homework assignments, as well as participate in online discussions; assignments and exams are usually due at the end of the week while online discussion posts are usually due by the middle of the week.
