Everest University Online is the distance-learning division of the Everest Career Education Network, which is a private, for-profit institution that has campuses in 24 states and in Canada. The institution offers professional certificate, associate, bachelor’s, and master’s degree programs, but the academic opportunities vary by campus.
The Everest Career Education Network’s schools, which include Everest College, Everest Institute, and Everest University, emphasize hands-on training, small work teams, flexible class scheduling, and instruction by experienced professionals. Many of the network’s schools are accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools.
Similar to its campus-based counterparts, Everest University Online seeks to provide career-oriented academic programs that lead to careers in high-demand professions. The university offers associate degrees in accounting, applied management, business, computer information science, criminal justice, criminal investigations, homeland security, and paralegal studies. It also has bachelor’s degrees in accounting, business, applied management, computer information science, criminal justice, homeland security, and paralegal studies, and master’s degrees in business administration and criminal justice.
Generally speaking, the university doesn’t require essays, letters of recommendation, or exam scores for admittance. Instead students have to complete a telephone interview with an admissions representative, fill out an online admissions form, submit a financial aid form, and send in an enrollment application. However, the admissions requirements also vary depending on the level of the degree. For example, an applicant to the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program must have a bachelor’s degree, but the degree doesn’t have to be from a business-related field.
Support staff is available around the clock, and students enroll in small classes. There are no mandatory times for class sessions. This enables students to complete their course work and earn their degree in the time that works best for them, instead of having to juggle their other responsibilities with traveling to and from a class.
Financial aid and scholarships are only available to qualifying Everest students.
