For 45 years, ECPI University has been helping students learn the valuable skills and information necessary to succeed in numerous professions. One master’s degree, 18 bachelor’s degrees, and 19 associate degrees are available through the university’s four schools: Technology, Business and Criminal Justice, Health Science, and Culinary Arts. Continuing education degrees in technology and health science are also offered. ECPI has 10 campuses located throughout Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. For each of the last 10 years, ECPI has ranked among Community College Week’s best schools for computer and information sciences and engineering-related technologies; additionally, the college was honored for “health professions and related clinical sciences” and “registered nursing, nursing administration, nursing research and clinical nursing” in 2011.
ECPI faculty place great importance on career preparation. Students at all campuses have access to career advisors, as well as other resources including externships, resume writing guidance, and graduate employment assistance. Furthermore, the website for each degree outlines an extensive list of skills students develop during the course of their program, occupations that correspond to different academic disciplines, and straightforward information regarding program cost (see, for example, the page for the bachelor’s degree in criminal justice).
Even though ECPI is primarily focused on careers, the school requires students to take general education courses to develop a well-rounded set of skills and knowledge. Despite this, ECPI’s degree programs can still be significantly shorter in length than traditional versions thanks to the year-round schedule; ECPI’s bachelor’s degrees can be completed in as little as 30 months, while the associate degree can be obtained in just one and a half years. ECPI’s program structure can be individually tailored to individual circumstances; students can take courses on campus or on the web, as well as blended courses (which combine classroom and web components).
For students who prefer to earn their degree remotely, ECPI’s Online Campus offers programs from all four schools; these include a master’s degree in information systems, 12 bachelor’s degrees (in areas like food service management, network security, and healthcare administration), and three associate degrees. Perks of EPCI’s online degree programs include small class sizes, peer networking opportunities via site forums, and access to online library resources. Many programs also include industrial simulation software that allows students to glean hands-on experience while working from home.
By providing vocation-focused education in high-demand fields, ECPI University is preparing its students to meet the challenges of today’s professional world. And by enabling e-learners to become proficient in vocational fields with online courses, the school is revolutionizing the scope of web-based education.
