Central Christian College (CCC) was founded in 1884 by Rev. C.M. Damon, a Free Methodist preacher who hailed from Nebraska. Damon and his wife dedicated the school, known then as Orleans Seminary, to encourage Christian values and academic leadership. The college was relocated to a campus in McPherson, Kan., in the early 1900s. For nearly 130 years, the college has continued its mission of faith and stewardship.
Students who attend CCC may pursue associate, bachelor’s, and/or master’s degrees in 12 different fields of study, such as aviation, ministry and theology, fine arts, psychology, and social sciences. Courses are small, with roughly 12 students to every faculty member on campus. This allows students to receive individualized attention from instructors and build stronger peer relationships in smaller classroom environments. Prospective students can schedule a campus tour to learn about the McPherson community and view departmental facilities.
Students can also take part in Central Christian College’s athletics program, which is comprised of 14 different sports teams. In the last decade, 16 students have won the Keith Ivers Award for Christian Athlete of the Year. The CCC Tigers compete against other schools enrolled in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. The school also hosts seasonal sport camps to help budding athletes hone their skills in different sports and explore new activities.
Central Christian College’s online offerings allow students to earn bachelor’s degrees in organizational leadership, business administration, and healthcare administration. Distance learners must have access to a personal computer and Internet connection that is able to upload streaming video content. Since Central Christian College online degree programs are self-paced, they are a great option for full-time professionals, parents of young children, and other individuals with additional commitments.
Students who are unable to independently finance their education may qualify for federal student aid, institutional awards, work study, Kansas grants, and federal loans. Students may only accept one institutional scholarship at a time; however, some provide as much as $10,000 on an annual basis. CCC awards 13 different institutional grants, including the Multicultural Leadership Grant and Christian Education Grant.
Central Christian College offers a comprehensive academic experience to all who attend. The school is ideal for religious students seeking the opportunity to network with like-minded individuals, study the scriptures, and learn about faith-based disciplines. However, CCC is also a fine choice for aspiring professionals hoping to earn a first-rate education.
