The Art Institute Online is a college that was developed by The Art Institute of Pittsburgh as a way to encourage people who want to explore new career options, or who want to expand their knowledge of the arts. There are over 10 programs to choose from that each offer students insight into new careers. Online classes are convenient with the only requirement is that students complete up to three assignments a week depending on the program in which they are enrolled.
Classes are taught using lectures, online learning materials, and answering questions that are given to encourage discussion rather than award students for giving the right answers. All instructors are trained using the principles of the Socrates Distance Learning Technologies Group. Instructors will have to complete 100 hours of training before they will be allowed to teach. Coursework is developed by the faculty and will gradually build in degree of difficulty so that students will always feel challenged.
