The study of economic crime is the study of white collar crime. This involves the investigation, apprehension, court filings and the conviction of crimes that happen in business and in the government. Not only do you work on the side of the law investigating these crimes, but you also can work within businesses. Many hire investigators and individuals to come into their business to insure that there are no specific problems within the business or to find out what is happening.
In addition, you may work as a private investigator, police investigator, and as a law enforcement professional. In addition to standard law enforcement course work, you will also need to study some business related fields including that of accounting, where many of the crimes happen. Because there is more white collar crime happening especially in large corporations, there is an increasing demand for individuals with economic crime degrees in both the private and public sector.
