Western Governors University provides online education for busy professionals. The programs are designed differently than traditional courses in that the credit hours are less important in completing the program of study than are the competency levels that students demonstrate through projects, examinations, and interactive discussions with peers and faculty. The emphasis throughout Western Governors University's online programs is to promote highly qualified professionals based on their field of study.
Western Governors University was founded by the governors of 19 western states to provide quality education to those wanting to advance their professional skills, knowledge, and ability. The courses are practical and they encourage a mastery of theoretical concepts relevant to the topic. Instructors at Western Governors University are experienced in their field and have extensive knowledge in developing and teaching online programs to professionals. Each student is assigned a personal faculty member to act as a mentor throughout his/her course of study.
Students can communicate with faculty and other students through online message boards, chat rooms supervised by faculty, or through e-mail. One of the many benefits of studying online at Western Governors University is that the course completion and access is completely flexible based on the needs of the learner. Students can work form home, office, or even if they are required to travel. Some students may be eligible for financial aid in the form of federal Pell grants or direct student loans.
