Capella University Online offers an extensive selection of online learning programs. Distance education is conducted through lectures, message boards and sometimes colloquia, which are residencies that some students will attend as part of their degree program.

Online learning at Capella begins with an introductory course in Web education. Students will learn how the system works and how to communicate with others. Courses have beginning and ending dates during which students are expected to turn in all assignments to pass the class. Most courses are three months in length with some that will last only one month depending on the degree program.

Capella will help students learn about a new career or advance in their current one. Students are expected to study at least 10 hours a week for most degree programs.
