New Hampshire College Grants
Like many states in the US, New Hampshire wishes to retain its top academic achievers and considers education beyond high school of great importance. The state administrators of scholarships and grants — the New Hampshire Postsecondary Education Commission — is dedicated to offering equal opportunities to those at a financial disadvantage, realizing that everyone deserves a chance at higher education. As a resident of New Hampshire, you may qualify for several grants you never even thought about.
The New Hampshire Incentive Program (need-based) — provides funds for attendance at a participating school in the New England area that is part of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges in sums of up to $1000 per academic year.
Leveraged Incentive Grants (need and merit based) — provides for students who are state residents toward attendance at a state college or university. Awards are granted in sums of up to $7500 per academic year, depending on need and availability.
Granite State Scholars program (merit-based) — offers top in-state students with proven academic talent and drive funding towards participating schools. Schools who participate include the University of New Hampshire, Keene State, and Plymouth State University.
Workforce Incentive Program (major based) — offers loan repayment or loan forgiveness to students studying in fields where there are shortages, including nursing, math, teaching, and foreign language studies. Students may be required to serve in an area of great need upon graduation to receive reimbursement.
Scholarships for Orphans of Veterans program (need-based) — provides up to $2500 toward tuition at an in-state public college or university for resident students who have lost a parent in armed conflict.

Paying for school is not easy, but we are here to help. OEDb's student finance section will help you find the money you need to pay your tuition and other college expenses. We cover scholarships, college grants, and student loans. Scholarships and grants are both forms of "free money", meaning they don't need to be paid back. Scholarships are typically awarded by businesses or individuals, with the money being earmarked specifically for tuition. They can be awarded based on a student's location or by religious affiliation, such as Catholicism or Islam. Grants are typically awarded by governments or non-profit organizations and the money often can be applied to several different expenses a student may incur, not solely tuition. They can be awarded based on location or ethnicity, for instance African American or Hispanic. Loans are not considered "free money", because unlike scholarships and grants, they do need to be paid back after graduation. Common federal loans include Perkins and Stafford. Loans are also available by location.
