Delaware College Grants

In a small state such as Delaware, you may be concerned that there are not enough opportunities available to you for financial aid that will allow you to afford a higher education. However, the state of Delaware has a large variety of grants and scholarships that have been introduced over the years to assist students who wish to remain in state and attend an institute of higher learning but can't foot the bill to do so. With the choices available, most individuals qualify for at least some aid and will be able to fulfill their educational dreams.

Through the Delaware Higher Education Commission, you can perhaps obtain state-sponsored grants and scholarships. The Scholarship Incentive Program is a need-based grant opportunity offering awards of up to $2200 for undergrads or $1000 for graduates to attend a state institution of higher learning. Public colleges and universities in Pennsylvania are also included.

For part-time non-traditional adults looking for an opportunity to earn a degree or certificate, there is the Governor's Workforce Development Grant. Qualified applicants are employed part time with an employer who contributes to the associated fund and is in need of financial assistance to attend part time programs at participating institutes within Delaware.

The Student Excellence Equals Degree program (SEED) offers scholars who are not at the top of their classes the ability to receive funding toward attendance at the University of Delaware or one of the state's technical or community colleges. Awards are given based on need and merit.

For individuals with a high GPA and outstanding SAT or ACT scores, there is the Diamond State Scholarships fund, which requires students to attend a Delaware college or university and awards up to $1200 per academic year.
