In operation since 1958 as the RETS Electronics School, the RETS Technical Center is now a career-based educational facility providing diplomas to students anxious to expand their horizons with a higher education that leads them to a new career at an accelerated rate. With its acquisition by the Kaplan Higher Education Corporation in 2002, an entity that owns and operates dozens of career-oriented education institutions across the country, the high standards of the college were reinforced and guaranteed with the backing of the Kaplan name. Located in Charlestown (a historic area of Boston), the center sits directly in a rich area of culture and society.

Currently, the RETS Technical Center offers three full-time diploma programs, with the option to take courses during the day or in the evening. The Medical Assistant program prepares you for tasks in medical offices such as clinical procedures, administering injections, drawing blood samples, monitoring vital signs, first aid, CPR, charting, and more. If you choose to enroll in the Electrician program, you'll learn basic fundamentals of electricity including direct and alternating current circuitry, wiring, motors, transformers, and the National Electrical Code. The RHVAC Service Technician program focuses on refrigeration principles (residential and commercial), heating, air conditioning, humidifying, air cleaning, heat pumps, duct sizing, heat load calculations, and the principles of RHVAC electricity.

If you are having difficulty determining how you are going to pay for schooling at RETS Technical Center, speak with someone in the financial aid department to receive assistance in locating and applying for loans and grants for which you qualify, as well as entering into a federal work-study program. You can also work with the career services department to help locate relevant part time work to help pay your way through school and again after graduation to find a position that suits your acquired skills and your particular interests.
