Conceived as the Diesel Institute of America in 1970, what is now the North American Trade Schools was the brainchild of Sheldon Monsein, then president of Central GMC/Kenworth. At the time, there was an incredible need for skilled diesel mechanics to repair the hundreds of vehicles at his facility in Landover, Maryland, and he began with a first class in a 500 square foot garage. Today, the facilities have expanded to enormous proportions, with several campuses (including Canada) and one of the most renowned career-oriented trade schools in the country. With the prediction that all major auto manufacturers will be regularly producing a line of diesel vehicles by the year 2015, the need for diesel mechanics is only growing, creating incredible opportunities for graduates from the school.

At North American Trade Schools, you can bypass an education based around the liberal arts and concentrate solely on the career you have in mind. Take advantage of opportunities in CDL Training and Diesel Technical Training to enter into growing and promising skilled job markets. You can also specialize in Building Construction Technology, a field that is forever in need. Other programs you can strive to complete include Electrical Technology and HRVAC Technology, both of which can lead to assured employment.

Through programs offering fast, effective hands-on training in state of the art facilities, North American Trade Schools continues to grow rapidly while keeping pace with ever-increasing demands in a volatile and evolving industry. The school has one of the best reputations in the nation and is one of the foremost technical training facilities on the continent. Choosing an education that can lead to skilled trades is a great approach to fulfilling dreams and becoming a qualified candidate within the workforce, and committing to a program at the North American Trade Schools is an excellent place to start.
