The Akron Institute in Ohio was established in 1970 as part of the Herzing Educational System (an organization operating over a dozen campuses in the US and Canada) with the goal of providing hands-on training of skills related directly to job requirements. As a technical training administration, the programs offered by Akron Institute have assisted students in finding successful careers in Administration, Information Technology, and Allied Health in the tri-county region.
Akron Institute offers a number of externship programs so that graduates can find opportunities for experience with employers who need new, invigorated professionals in their businesses. Upon exiting programs, students can work with Akron Institute to build long-lasting relationships and meet community and employer needs. Students achieve certifications or degrees with marketable skills. Entrance is made easy with a Career Counseling and Planning Session with the admissions department to discuss the course of study.
Plan ahead and get career training and development in programs that offer degrees, diplomas, and certifications. Students can enroll and earn an Associate of Applied Science in several different fields of study, including computer networking and security, nursing, medical assisting, dental assisting, medical billing and insurance coding, and business administration. There are also opportunities to commit to a shorter time schedule and earn a diploma in medical assisting or medical billing and insurance coding. Programs at the Akron Institute are designed to meet the standards established by field leaders, such as the Ohio Dental Association and the American Association of Medical Assistants.
