Originally founded by the MacGregor Medical Association (MMA), which was founding in 1953 in what is now the Texas Medical Center, the Academy of Health Care Professions was the solution created in 1988 when the 42 MMA locations needed to provide quality training to improve employee's medical skills. It was officially accepted by the Texas Workforce Commission in 1990 as a program to assist students beyond the needs of internal MMA professionals and seeks to provide medical professionals with additional training through the expansion of MMA offices.
Each campus of the Academy of Health Care Professions is a career institute incorporating modern technical healthcare training into a small campus that is concerned with providing each individual student with the resources necessary to succeed. Equipment and instruments relative to each student's field of study are made available, and classroom structure is unique depending upon the program. Faculty consists of dedicated experienced professionals who can guide new students with careful supervision in classes with limited enrollment.
The curriculum at AHCP is focused on the needed skill sets of individuals in the workplace, with training limited to these requirements in order to minimize training time and get professionals where they are most needed — into the healthcare industry — with the knowledge required to be effective. Financial aid is available to students who qualify and can make a career in healthcare affordable for any aspiring individual.
Graduates of each program will receive either a degree or certificate that will guarantee them employment or advancement in their field of study, and AHCP can also assist with career placement for its graduates.
Whether interested in nursing, medical assistant, dental assistant, or other medical careers, the Academy of Health Care Professions is dedicated to guiding students down the path to success, with as little time and cost incurred as possible.
