The presentation-sharing community SlideShare has added the ability to synchronize your PowerPoint presentations with a full audio track. They are calling this combination of a slideshow plus podcast a slidecast which may be embedded within your website or blog. You need to upload your presentation to Slideshare and then upload and store your .mp3 file somewhere else, (SlideShare suggests the Internet Archive).

There are many audio options available when creating your slidecast including timing each slide with a particular point in the audio track, dividing the audio evenly throughout the length of the presentation, or simply merging the two without any synchronization. This new multimedia format could be a great way to synch up recorded talks given at conferences, offer instructional sessions online, providing some relevant slides along with an interview, or creating a narrated series of images.  The best part is, it’s free!
